“This is not a place of honor”
“This is not a place of honor”
I can only speak about the US, but sadly, the unhoused die of hunger, preventable disease, and exposure all the time here. And unemployment does not cover a 1 bedroom apartment in major cities, nor does it qualify you for the outrageous requirements of most leases. You may be right about the status of the poor in the EU though.
They eat cleaner food and have more amenities than a King, but they certainly don’t live better. The point of the article is that the rising tide is floating a few boats wayyyy higher than the rest, and the overall growth does not justify the fact that people still die of hunger, get evicted while working multiple jobs, fall ill and are saddled by medical dept for life (US only), and shit like that.
Most interesting definition, I think, comes from contrapposto. Can it die? No. So long as it retains its “shape” more or less, it functions. If heated or denatured, it no longer functions. More like broken than dead.
Wrong. Talk to him every day. Hang out on some weekends, and become friends. Plant subtle notions of egalitarianism through your friendship and generosity. Ask him thought questions about his beliefs, but not in an accusatory manner. Teach him to actually think for himself, to keep an open mind, to seek evidence rather than faith to form convictions. Slowly show him by example what it means to be a good person who cares for their fellow human beings.
Then you plant some drugs on him while at work, and call HR with your suspicions.
This is the New McCarthyism, there’s a different enemy now didn’t you hear?
Me upgrading my wardrobe: “I wear suits now”
He didn’t just rival the coke heads. Practically ran for president.
I’m actually surprised at how little they spend on lobbying, even with the recent uptick. It must be the other thing, you know, our representatives are shareholders.
Damn me neither
This is the same fucking thing. It is simultaneously 12:25am MDT and 6:25am GMT where I live. If you ask my computer what time it is, it knows it is 06:25:00-06:00.
Two sides of the same coin buddy.
What you’re describing is LITERALLY the system we have. UTC is a global, coordinated time that tracks solar time to a precision of less than a second. As far as my computer is concerned, my time is UTC (technically GMT, but they both refer to the same time) minus 6 hours. We all could choose to say, “hey, wanna meet for dinner at 3AM?” and have that be a normal thing to say in my area, and an odd thing to say odd in Europe… but nobody wants that.
How stoned are you right now
I’m imagining something more fluid, where the time it is depends on exactly where you’re standing and the position of the sun in relation to it. You’d need to factor the direction you’re traveling as well as the distance whenever you went anywhere. We’d have a lot more intimate relationship with our current celestial situation.
I think they’re proposing personal time zones, where every individual’s clock shows their precise solar time, and nobody ever manages to be on time to work ever again.
That’s stupid. Metal is fun, and Nazis don’t own it, nor can they take it away from the vast majority of good people who play it and enjoy it. It has a bad rap from Satanic panic era bible-thumpers.
You wanna ban classical music? The OG Nazis loved that shit.
Just research the bands you like.
Wait, why? Is the TV spying on me any more than my phone, every app I use, my desktop OS, every website I visit, all of my smart home devices, my car, my bank, traffic cameras, and my bottom left molar?
Can’t I just slap a PiHole on my home network and pretend I’ve done something about it?
I own property.
I’m just saying it’s incorrect to characterize this woman as ass-headed, because it’s not a reasonable expectation to assume somebody might build on your land, or to have to spend your time and money to safeguard against that specific problem. Making sure there are no uncovered well, sure. Constant surveillance to keep out rogue construction companies? In a neighborhood? No.
And whether you found out in a week or several months, it’s still a huge headache. So you notice a bit earlier if you’re paying close attention. Big whoop. You’ve still got a huge hole and a house foundation on your property. The developer still broke the law, and you did NOT break the law or do anything dumb by expecting others to adhere to property law, and doing what is required of you by law.
You can. But should you be expected to? Lol. It’s an empty lot in a residential neighborhood. I think it’s fair to NOT expect people to be putting unauthorized structures on it.
Lol, Edith and Mildred are literally my grandmothers’ names. Edith is a badass and just turned 99.
