Obama doubled the amount of border patrol agents. Which seems like a much better use of money than a wall, at least according to… the border patrol.

*The amount of border patrol doubled while Obama was in office. It might seem pedantic but it is not. Anything like this requires Congress to approve the budgetary increase which means it happened because of multiple parties not just the White House.

Traditionally border patrol pushes have been failures, they get more staff but generally super underqualified and often times cartel linked. Yes it’s a better use of money but training the ones we have to actually be effective is better use.

My point is more that you cannot say it is because of Obama when Congress has to sign off on it as well. It’s like blaming Reagan for the tax cuts of the 80’s when the Democrats controlled Congress and passed those bills.

Didn’t necessarily have to be your short comment. It was probably all the other alt-right shit in your comment history and the fact that you moderate “MakeLemmyGreatAgain” ffs

          Idgaf what consenting adults do.

Do you have gay friends or do you know gay people that you consider friends? Im asking this because as a bi guy I find more than a few conservatives think Im their friend when I wish they were better people and do not at all see them as friends. Friends do not support parties whose stated goals are to make their friends be less equal under the law which the GOP has explicitly stated.

Obviously I don’t know you or them but I wouldn’t be surprised to find they don’t consider you a friend

Again, your comment history is visible. Your account is only seven days old and you’ve already laid out clear political leanings with your comments. You may not be an official Republican because you can’t vote for them as a non-American but you certainly agree with all their stances which is enough for me to know you’re kind of a piece of shit. That definition was invented by christians seeking to destroy small religions through stigma. It’s on the same tier as the witch hunters defining a witch as an evil sorceresss. Obviously made up and fake, obviously pushing a harmful agenda.

typically led by a charismatic and self-appointed leader, who excessively controls its members, requiring unwavering devotion to a set of beliefs and practices which are considered deviant (outside the norms of society)

A political cult is a cult with a primary interest in political action and ideology. Groups that some have described as “political cults”, mostly advocating far-left or far-right agendas

Since the 1940s, the Christian countercult movement has opposed some sects and new religious movements, labeling them “cults” because of their unorthodox beliefs. Since the 1970s, the secular anti-cult movement has opposed certain groups and, as a reaction to acts of violence, frequently charged those cults with practicing mind control. Scholars and the media have disputed some of the claims and actions of anti-cult movements, leading to further public controversy.

In the English-speaking world, the term cult often carries derogatory connotations.[14] In this sense, it has been considered a subjective term, used as an ad hominem attack against groups with differing doctrines or practices.[9][15] As such, religion scholar Megan Goodwin has defined the term cult, when it is used by the layperson, as often being shorthand for a “religion I don’t like”.[16]

Like I said, Christians invented the new definition due to hate. We shouldn’t use it.

Democrat is a noun. Democratic is an adjective. You can say “vote for a Democrat,” but you can’t say “vote Democrat” because you’re referring to the Democratic Party where “Democratic” is the adjective. In that case, it would be “vote Democratic.”

Republicans love to use slurs like “the Democrat Party.” That’s probably where you’ve heard it.

This is just grammar nazi bullshit. Give me empirical evidence that anybody would say “Vote Democratic”. It’s a phrase I’ve never heard but I’m not American and not a native speaker. The authority lies with native speakers but not language purists who think they are better than others.

First: I’m sorry for having mistaken you for a jerk. There have been a lot over on r*ddit and here I have seen them too, but you aren’t one of them and I’m sorry.

Second: I’m still not convinced either. It doesn’t say “Vote the Democrat party”, I see now how this would be wrong. Adjectives always stay before a noun (or at the end of a sentence after a form of to be). In the case of “Vote Democrats”, “vote” is the verb and “Democrats” the object and therefore a noun (in contrast to “democratic votes” were votes is a noun and democratic the adjective).

Sure, the post doesn’t say that neither. “Vote a Democrat” or “vote your local Democrat” would work but a singular without an article of any kind not so much.
