That’s a great idea and can be implemented in the security app or a simple menu in your settings.

Except, how can it tell you how good a part is? Why would I trust what the original manufacturer has to say about it’s competition?

The system to judge a part is between our ears.

A warning sign (“this phone has a third party screen”) could be useful, so long as it’s just that, a notification in the settings somewhere. Then it’s up to me to decide whether I care or not. All it does is give me more information, the judgment on it is my own.

I’d prefer it if it did that for all parts. New third party screen? Notice. New first party screen? Also give notice. Then i know what was repaired or replaced. Even better if it should list when it was replaced, and perhaps the specs of the replacement part.

I like this. Like a digital equivalent to how a car’s VIN is stamped on a bunch of different parts all over the car so a different buyer can tell if it’s been wrecked and repaired.

Right. They don’t have to give you an opinion about the quality, just that it’s not an original part. The rest is up to the user

If I buy components I buy extra and test them myself before use. I don’t buy anything used that I can get new and I test before I use. Now my hobbies seldom require me to play with surface mount, and i don’t need displays for anything, but I’m plenty familiar with ordering from one end of the QC department or the other. All that said, you have a far higher opinion of Apple than I do.

I’ve owned two things produced by them. Both were trash out of the box, but perhaps I got "Monday " built devices both times. One came to me as a gift one I bought because my kid asked for it. Both were returned and I have not looked at an apple product since. My only experience is that they are knock offs of themselves and at their price point someone should be ashamed of themselves. My opinion of your opinion stands downvote me again if you want.

That would require capitalists to want to protect your investment. That’s not how capitalists think.

Ignore the truth all you want. What was the technology invented for? It’s FULLY capable of doing what you ask.

Why doesn’t it? Because it was made to protect profits, not the end buyer. Yea it sucks, but ignoring it means it will be even worse the next time I have to point it out to your ignorant ass.
