Whenever I get to know brands like these I wonder how many $800+ clothes I have unknowingly seen on people that I just thought of “damn, that’s ugly.” and went on with my day.
Fixed controller input inconsistently working in Big Picture mode windows.
God yes.
I used to have the “Founders Edition” subscription tier from when GeForce Now was introduced. It was like 25$/quarter and a limited time offer for the first subscribers of GeForce Now. It was on par with the premium tier (best servers, no time limit, and best quality + ray tracing). Of course, over the years, it got degraded to second best servers, 6 hour session limit, max. 1080p and so on … Then I quit.
This, tbh. You don’t get bullied for something, you get bullied because bullies want to bully.
What happens if you merge the user base of a small network and a huge network? https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Network_effect Will the small network gain from the huge one or the other way round? Also there is a lot to gain. The users base of the fediverse and it’s infrastructure grew by 5x in the last two years: https://fedidb.org/ Meta has a big interest in extinguishing a competitor before it profits from the bandwagon effect.

Relatively, yes. But look at what happened in the last two years: https://fedidb.org/
A natural network effect will pull in users in a network. Watering down our decentralized network with Metas network will make all of Fediverses advantages indistinguishable from the users perspective. Decentralization is not something you experience as a user anyway so there will be no obvious reason for someone coming from threads to switch over to the Fediverese. The other way round is more likely. Meta has insane design and market power to push out better Apps, faster CDNs and marketing to give users a better “Fediverse”.
Yes, but I advocate for decentralized social media to become the status quo and not the fallback role when corpo controlled media ends it’s life cycle via enshittification again.
You can: by making it irrelevant. It’s not dead then, but not used also. And that is what’s planned here.
Curious users can find the fediverse anyway if there were interested in changing social media platforms. Meta has NO good reasonable use to integrate the fediverse. Compared to Metas cumulative social media user size we are but a tiny hub of users. So here again: there is NO good reason for them to just causally go “oh hi guys, let’s be friends!” The only reason is to extinguish competition before it gets larger. It’s like Starbucks slapping down a store next to your local coffee shop because “wow we both like coffee, let’s be friends so our customers can enjoy coffee together and have a talk!” It’s a deceptive strategy.
Yes, still then there are only very limited software configurations that are allowed.
It’s not even really better on Windows. (Nearly) all streaming services restrict resolution to 720p if you watch on a PC, mobile phone or tablet. With the exception of Netflix if you watch with Microsoft Edge or Chrome, I believe.
Netflix definitely increased 1080p compression (or said better, nerfed it). 1080p even looks a little pixelated on my mobile phone now when it looked great on a PC monitor a few years ago.
I was always wondering why so few people don’t complain about the interface. It’s abysmal. An absolute minimum of functionality in an unintuitive layout that’s always changing. What the absolute fuck. And all streaming services adopted it.
But why did you only name 2 billionaires
Yeah the hardware I’m running can easily run cyberpunk and any other modern game with satisfying FPS. Yet, it has no 8th gen CPU so I’m not able to upgrade. If I would upgrade my CPU just for win 11 I would have to replace my mainboard and then my GPU would bottleneck which would be, well, sad, so I would feel like I need to upgrade it too … And well, we know where this leads. I’m just not in for this ride just for Windows 11. I already use Linux on a different drive and prepare to fully switch to Linux. It’s just for gaming that I still use Windows and I feel like Linux could really “profit” from Microsofts decision to ditch Windows 10 under this conditions.
Also related to streaming services: the horizontal scrolling layout the movies are displayed in is the absolute worst thing that has come to streaming services. It’s bad to search in, it is uncomfortable to scroll and it displays too little items.
I like what you did with house there.
