324·1 month agoThis feels like the turning point for Firefox that we all feared would come. They’ve now switched to outright gas lighting their users. They’re trying to convince us that if they take a stab at doing ads the right way, that we can have a web filled with tolerable ads that work for both the user and the business.
Ads and user data collection are the worst part of the internet. Nothing has ever gotten better because of them. And there’s already far too much focus in this area. Mozilla just wants to be another exploiter so that they can have a piece of the stolen value pie.
Holy shit. We’re back to this? Do you also think that the ghost of Kiev will lead the Ukranazis to victory?

10·6 months agoThe problem with liberal democracies isn’t that representatives are elected, its who those politicians represent. It’s not the working class, except when it is and those politicians get Salvador Allende’d 💀.

1·9 months agoI guess those of us who keep their devices on vibrate are out of luck. Why couldn’t they just limit the number “pings” that an app can send within a certain period of time? They could easily make this user confgurable. 😭
What about long press to expand/collapse the chain and tap to show/hide the bar? Personally, most of my miss-clicks are attempts to click a link in the body. This results in everything collapsing and then needing to click to expand before trying again. I think it would be less frustrating if a miss-click of this type resulted in just the bar collapsing or expanding which doesn’t hide the link that was missed.
61·1 year agoWhat has the Canadian state done to materially improve the conditions of the indigenous population? It’s all lip service and no action. The major difference here is that the project of ethnic and cultural genocide was largely successful, wiping out the chance of any serious resistance movement.

I’ve been working on a NixOS setup over the past few days and I just got BG3 to run a couple of hours ago. I had to switch from the Mesa driver to the AMD one, I can’t login to the launcher (CORS issue lmao), and it sometimes doesn’t launch at all. It’s still a bit of a WIP, but it did seem to run at least as well as it did on Windows when it worked. I’m hoping that having an ephemeral, config-based setup will save me a lot of this trouble in the future.
