I appreciate your perspective, but if you’re from a different instance and don’t view this instance, why are you here? Sure it would be censorship to delete your comment, but the point about that part of the post is nobody asked you. This is the meta for the instance, why are so many people from other instances chipping in? Also, your issue is whether your commentary is expected/welcome and not related to the actual issue at hand.
The community in question listed “child-like” in their sidebar until after this defederation. Gross.
Good choice and thank you.
Editing to add, I read the post addressing this on the other instance, and the message screenshots between Ada and the nsfw admins, and the nsfw admin’s ignorance sure looks willful to me. They’re defending an nsfw community that had “child-like” as one of the adjectives they emphasize in the sidebar until after this defederation took place. Not acceptable.
iirc, for awhile the first and only user flair available on r/196 was “trans rights”
It seems weird to me that you’re on the meta for another instance complaining about a decision that doesn’t affect you.
There’s plenty of other comments here about other awful shit going on at lemmynsfw and I don’t feel like recapping that. From what I can see concerning the actual defederation, it is at worst the right choice for the wrong reasons.
The rest of the argument seems to be about the community’s intent. Including “child-like” in the sidebar of a porn community because it was copy/pasted from a dictionary definition may have been a ‘stumble’ but it was still negligent.
