I enjoyed helping this place grow and doing my part to discuss here but I disagree with this decision and I’m going to evaluate looking for a different home instance.

Seems to work good enough!
The advertisement model needs to die. No one wants to have their experience corrupted by panels trying to sell you something. We can find other ways to fund the network
There is ALWAYS the possibility to enshittify anything. Meta is trying to infiltrate Mastodon already.
Use Reddit’s power delete suite. Be careful though, Reddit’s admins are really really mad at ur right now and they will roll back partially or totally your messages, so keep an eye on it and run the power delete suite multiple times, before June 30th
Maybe indeed it’s a bit too early c:
Let’s hope for a future where the Internet is the vibrant and diverse place it used to be before the big tech walled gardens.
Heh, never been into Star Trek but I love how you guys have a Lemmy instance themed around it
That’s great. Love to see Kbin thriving but I wish more instances came online. I know that at least fedia.io exists
That’s the thing, I don’t want one instance with too much control over others. That is a gateway to reintroducing corporate corruption into the Fediverse
Me too, I really hope it doesn’t devolve into defederation wars
still don’t get that unless a certain instance de-federalizes others en masse, you’re still gonna be able to access it’s content and contribute from your instance. Sadly it just happened with beehaw.org, one large instance defederating another. That’s a pretty big wall.
Although, in general,I wouldn’t be worried. Even if a certain instance is getting big, you are still not subject to the whims of some venture capitalist corp in silicon valley. Sadly corporations love to control everything and always end up giving small startups offers that are too good to refuse and they either take it over or shelf it forever. I really don’t want corporate control to return to the web. Reddit swallowed all the forums due to how convenient it was.
not to mention no (useless) bots, no karma whores, no powermods, no insufferable people, no bloated web redesign, no minimum karma bullshit, no downvote bombing (you can see both downvotes and upvotes simultaneously on posts and comments along with the net score)
they are the same kind of people who don’t mind kernel level anticheats.
It’s not only like Mastodon, it uses the same protocol as Mastodon and to some limited extent you can communicate with Mastodon instances.
I know. It’s a corporate hellscape and the culmination of Web 2.0 ever since 2014 ended. I just hope it crashes and burns and all the bootlickers go back to Tiktok or somewhere they will not disturb others’ quality of life. They are the ones who perpetuate the redditor neckbeard stereotype and are a burden right now.
Keep in mind Beehaw defederated us so no communications between them and lemmyworld
The redesign made things worse and only worse:
I also second this, I quite like Kbin’s tightness myself. Could be an optional theme for the web app but I understand the Lemmy devs are busy fixing the issues that were unearthed by the population explosion. However this could be arguably classified as a more general Lemmy issue rather than a lemmy.world issue which this community is for
There is a bug in the Lemmy backend causing hot and active ordering to give you stale posts in the frontpage. Switch to New and enjoy the A C T I V I T Y
Warning: the frontpage will update very fast
Wasn’t it hosted in Finland? Or have things changed?
