  • Additional fun fact. There has been a lot of research and activity dedicated to potentially switch coal power plants to nuclear. Currently, they cannot do it, because the coal plants and all the equipment associated produces far more radiation than regulations allow a nuclear plant to emit.

Therefore, unless they could find a practical way to decontaminate the radiation away from existing coal equipment, or regulations change for transformed plants, they can’t do it.

  • Because we can. Because that’s how federation works. If you don’t like this instance, go to another. Or make meaningful strides to make this one what you would like. Beehaw already defederated from Lemmy.world, so I can’t even see it. It’s just a preference and if there is no activy at any given instance… Then that’s fine. Maybe each find its own community preferences and rules. Maybe you just participate in both like many people are.

  • My college professor teaching FLUID POWER tried to teach our whole class that air does not compress and liquids do.

When he started the lecture and I attempted to correct him in a very soft and kind way (thinking he obviously is mixing up words) he denied it and told me I was wrong.

I tried several times to correct him nicely (because there were people in the class that would have taken his word) and was met by more and more aggressive denial. I finally stood up in the middle of the class, threw my hands up and said “Well Fuck! I just wasted all this money on a new air compressor” and walked out.
