  • she’s an activist, whose sole purpose in life has become making life worse for a certain group of people. incredibly vile and full of hate, and very vocal about it. using her platform consistently in the worst possible way.

She’s exactly what you’d expect from a 2nd wave radfem. It’s why so many of her ideological peers are also 2nd wave radfems. I’d bet if asked she’d tell you about how big an influence someone like Mary Daly was on her views on sex and feminism - Mary Daly was a 2nd wave radfem who likened trans people to Frankenstein’s monster and whose teaching career ended because of Title IX complaints related to her refusing to teach male students.

    also she’s a bad writer.

She’s decent at storytelling but painfully awful at world building and thinking through how existing threads from previous stories might interact with the one she wants to tell this time. Her weaknesses wouldn’t shine through as much if she were writing individual, disconnected stories instead of multi-part series in a shared universe.

  • I mean he did, but he both didn’t know that at the time and it’s not relevant to the goings on that night.

I’m just going to lead with this: he’s an idiot, and in an ideal world he would have not been in Kenosha that night at all.

That said, if you followed the trial and the evidence presented, it very obviously fit the definition of self defense.

I wish them the best in their civil trial, but unless they’re relying very hard on civil trials having a lower standard of evidence, are getting criminal trial evidence excluded, or are including new evidence not part of the criminal trial that makes a massive difference they probably won’t win.

Shooting Rosenbaum will likely have the easiest time if they can pay an ME to give contradictory expert testimony to what came from the criminal trial. Because while it’s on camera, you can’t clearly see what went on with their hands and the gun in the video, and have to rely on the ME and testimony to fill in the gaps.

Getting wrongful death civil damages for someone shooting someone who knocked them to the ground and was coming at them with a blunt object will be harder, but not as hard as for Grosskreutz, unless he can bar his criminal trial testimony from the civil case or come up with an excuse why his answers don’t mean what they appear to.

  • With the introduction of protected mode it became possible for programs to run in isolated memory spaces where they are unable to impact other programs running on the same CPU. These programs were said to be running “in a jail” that limited their access to the rest of the computer. A software exploit that allowed a program running inside the “jail” to gain root access / run code outside of protected mode was a “jailbreak”.

I still miss the narrow window in which you could make use of paging without technically being in protected mode. Basically there was like one revision of the 386 where you could set the paging bit but not protected mode and remain in real mode but with access to paging meaning you got access to paging without the additional processor overhead of protected mode. Not terribly useful since it was removed in short order, but neat to know about. Kinda like how there were a few instructions that had multiple opcodes and there was one commercially distributed assembler that used the alternative opcodes as a way to identify code assembled by it. Or POP CS - easily the most useless 80086 instruction, so useless that the opcode for it got repurposed in the next x86 processor.

And also don’t forget the very light-skinned black woman who couldn’t play Cleopatra because Cleopatra wasn’t black. (How do we know? We don’t? Cool. Cool cool cool.)

What’s known of her ancestry is mostly Macedonia Greek with some Persian and Sogdian Iranian descent. What’s left would probably either have been more of the same or north African, which still isn’t black. Her coinage (which she would have approved her depiction on) and her busts that are considered most likely to be accurate (because they agree with the coinage) depict her as Greek, so she at least primarily thought of herself as a Greek.

A very light skinned black woman is about the darkest she hypothetically might have been based on what we know of her lineage. Something closer to half Greek and half Arab is probably closer.

Trace her back to her origins, and she’s literally based on a Danish folktale. I can guarantee you no one in Denmark when the story first was told was thinking of her as black.

But then I think all of those examples were bad and should never have been cast that way. A black Anne Boleyn is exactly as bad a choice as a white Mansa Musa, for example.

  • It’s to point out that Isreal is capable of causing less collateral damage in Gaza but chooses not to.

That comes down to how often Hamas orders things that can reasonably have small bombs put inside them on a large scale and that Hamas are expected to have on their person’s most of the time, how secure their supply lines are, how paranoid they are about looking for that kind of thing, that sort of thing. It involves a lot more moving parts and rare opportunities than just dropping some bombs.

  • In the same way a picture of a pilot taken before they got their pilots licence is still a picture of a pilot

Except you don’t do that unless you’re talking about the person in the present context and comparing to the old one. Getting a pilots license or some other certification doesn’t make you always have had been that. A picture of a three year old playing with blocks is not a picture of a pilot, even if twenty years later they would get a pilot’s license. But it might be a picture of Bob, who later on would become a pilot.

  • I’m saying that the whole model of gender dynamics built on an oppressor/oppressed dichotomy you operate on is flawed in a way that makes it at best useless. That model has it’s roots in Marxist class conflict, and as a consequence the entire model and worldview only works as well as the alleged oppressor/oppressed dichotomy in question functions as a proxy for economic class. Which is why it works imperfectly for race, and even worse for sex/gender. You could literally make an argument for oppressed/oppressor zip codes and it would fit the model better than it does to sex/gender.

As an analogy, the model you operate on is like a geocentric model of the solar system. It’s just plain not accurate, and every time it’s made absolutely clear it’s not accurate another apologetic is stitched on like epicycles and deferents were used to shoehorn geocentric models into line with observations instead of being willing to take the leap that it’s bad model and should be tossed. This is where we get things like “the patriarchy hurts men too!” in exactly the way that no one would dare talk about how white supremacy hurts white people or capitalism hurts billionaires.

But as far as hating men, just look at the news media and reporting on various issues in the world. When “1/4 of the people this bad thing happens to are women!” is a call to action that something needs to be done to protect specifically women from the bad thing (see homelessness or suicide) which should be a hint about how men are viewed.

When you see casualties from some tragedy or another divided into women, children and “other”, when you can go on your social media of choice and it’s broadly acceptable to shit on men as a group with no qualifiers but you need to be extremely narrow and specific to say anything negative about any woman that should be another.

Hell, Reddit admins outright officially stated that their rules against hate speech do not apply to speech attacking men.

When you look at domestic violence resources, that should be a hint (yes, men are less often victims than women but the difference is not remotely as large as the difference in available resources).

Or look at heath care funding - there are numerous cutouts for women’s health in the ACA while the word “men” only occurs in the context of “men and women” and ACA coverage of contraception includes every kind of FDA recognized contraceptive, including barrier methods…for women. Cancer research funding (including government funding) is dramatically higher for cancers that are female-specific or massively female majority (breast, cervical, ovarian, etc) than for cancers that are male-specific or massively male majority (testicular, prostate, etc).

Kentucky passed a law a few years requiring judges in contested custody cases start from the presumption that equal custody is best unless there’s a good reason otherwise, as opposed to just starting from their own biases - this was heavily protested by women’s groups for…some reason.

Title fucking IX (a law that just outright bans sex discrimination in any federally funded educational program in the US) is consistently implemented in a way that is biased against men and boys in education, a great example being that the current US government website explaining how to handle Title IX claims outright says that if a girl wants to play a sport and there is no girl’s team she must be allowed to try out for the boy’s team and be put on the team if she’s capable but if a boy wants to play a sport and there is no boy’s team there is no requirement to allow him anything at all. There have been a fuckton of lawsuits over the last decade or so from boys accused of sexual assault in an educational context going through the system and being denied due process over things like: not being allowed to know what the process actually is or how school officials are trained for it, not being allowed access to exculpatory evidence the school had, not being allowed to know what evidence was being arrayed against them until immediately before proceedings so that they wouldn’t know what they needed to defend against, not being told what the accusation actually was or who was accusing them until the hearing so they couldn’t build a defense at all, not being allowed to have legal counsel present, that kind of thing. Even one case where a boy accused a girl of sexually assaulting him and when she found out she accused him of doing the same in response so his accusation was tossed as being retaliatory, and no I didn’t get my pronouns wrong in that and yes it is fucked up.

And the sad part is I can keep going with stuff like this for thousands and thousands of words and you probably won’t read it, and if you do you’ll probably ignore it or simply dub it misogyny and call me an incel or w/e. And the even sadder part is that this is the tip of a huge and depressing iceberg.

  • The horse paste form?

Other than dosing concerns, it’s the same drug. If you needed ivermectin and for some reason you couldn’t get it in pill form from a pharmacy (such as a natural disaster) it’s a workable source. Likewise for things like antibiotics. Just remember that drugs are dosed by weight and different species have different doses by weight so you’re going to have to do some math to convert from horse doses to human doses.

    For use as an antiviral?

Yeah, never understood why the weirdos landed on an antiparasitic for their quack antiviral. It gets used in humans pretty often for things like scabies and worms though…
