It was Slackware… Back in the late 90s. Do not ask me about how kid me managed that, all I recall is endless terminals, kernel panics and eventually getting a desktop through some arcane means I can’t remember.

I didn’t return to linux for many years after that experience.

I still have the 1996 edition of Slackware Linux Unleashed and the CD in my bookshelf as a reminder.

Is there an actual account of someone being executed for saying Jesus was from Kongo? I am not doubting they executed people for ridiculous reasons, but that one just stuck out to me as just… Was it just specifically Kongo or claiming he was from somewhere else than their scriptures claim?

I’m just reading this thread and finding it hilarious how many are triggered by this. The post isn’t even saying “all men” do anything, it’s specifically pointing out a small subset of men.

I refuse to drive or take any form of public transport, unless I am going to be traveling far.

I walk or bike everywhere I go. I get to where I am going and I get exercise along the way. I barely think about it anymore, it has just become normal to me.

Friends are going to care if they’re actually friends.

“Turn off the light when you leave a room.” has always struck me as very misguided. You probably should still do that to save on your electricity bill. But I am a night owl and I like going outside to bike or walk. The number of businesses I walk or bike past that leave their lights on all night is just ridiculous.
