Being opt-out instead of opt-in is icky. I don’t have much faith in RedHat related projects after the recent debacles (RHEL trying to kill off Alma and Rocky and Fedora’s project manager being fired with no replacement).
As a Fedora user, I’m really tired of being disappointed. Gonna wait for my vacation to switch to Debian.

By almost bug free I was speaking only about my own experience. There are probably loads of things under the hood I’m not noticing, but it’s been hours since I last noticed any issue.
I agree that we’ve still got a long way to go though: both Lemmy and Jerboa are far from their 1.0 release yet.
Lemmy’s devs and the .world admins have done in a month what Reddit hasn’t done in it’s whole existence: having a smooth and almost bug-free experience.
Jerboa feels so damn FRESH to use now!
Boy does it feel good to have those reports and understand the work you guys do. It’s really inspiring! Thanks for your hard work, everything has been silk smooth! This instance is really great, Lemmy and its devs are really amazing and I feel at home in a nice, cozy community.

Same thing for me. I have my own biases, but I kinda expect to be exposed to things I don’t agree sometimes: knowledge is good and trying to understand other viewpoints is useful (even if to know how someone could get something so wrong).
lemmy.world provides me that, I can engage with content I clearly enjoy, and debate (in a civil way) about things I disagree. And if something is really egregious I can block it myself.
Found the new face for the sub
I joined to learn, still not self-hosting anything, but I intend to use an 11yo Compaq laptop (i5, 8GB RAM, 1TB HDD) as a server while I’m still practicing. I intend to self-host a lemmy instance and a nextcloud server.

He might be a shitty CEO but he’s a GENIUS marketeer for friendly-fire campaigns.
I imagine him being annoyed at most, but only switching if something break. He’s way more focused on pragmatism than ethics (not implying he doesn’t think about the ethics standpoint)
