Same. I have a hard time not pulling that slot machine wheel if it’s there. It’s nice to have a feed of just the topics I requested from the communities I know are well moderated. Despite spending less time and consuming less content I actually feel more informed.

For better or worse this really nails it. I also think it’s a good reminder that when Reddit conquered Digg it happened over a six month period because there was like 100k users maybe total. There are so many more people involved with Reddit these days it’s going to take literal years before Lemmy is anywhere near the same level in terms of MAU.
Yeah but I think it’s childish to complain about movies “might as well not existing” if you haven’t even looked for them.
LOL yes I try not to speak like a FOSSite when talking with newbies. “Arch Linux does not yet have an adequate solution for the hammer problem (when your computer is hit with a hammer) so I can’t recommend it.”
I mean, rollbacks are quite literally a feature to prevent breaking it. That said I’ve never even had to roll back once.

So true for all FOSS projects, the more successful they become the more new users expect a customer service dept.
I’m loathe to defend Reddit’s moderation decision but my experience you can never trust the person being banned to explain why they were banned.
Because it is a post to an entirely different social media site.
Mastodon has more of a flat structure and is designed to be more conversational which is why I think it hasn’t caught on amongst celebrities and the pundit class. It’s great for conversation but only so-so at self promotion.
