  • If we’re talking about Lemmy rather than wider society then;

    Inb4; I’m broadly in support of trans people and trans rights/equality but I think there are three small snagging issues

    That people who identify as a women but who went through puberty as a male shouldn’t be competing in women’s sports. I think it’s a basic issue of fairness and that it ultimately disincentives people born female from entering a career in sports competitions.

    That there is a serious debate to be had about trans people in women’s changing rooms. I know it is a very nuanced and sensitive topic and I don’t pretend that I have the answer, but I don’t think it is as simple as “I identify as X so I’ll use X changing room”. I’d like to make it clear that I don’t think this is a “sneaky perv” issue but rather a debate about spaces that should possibly be reserved for people born as female.

    That no permanent changes should be made to the bodies of children. If you’re not old enough to get a tattoo, piercing, drink, smoke etc. Then you’re not old enough to make an extremely important decision that will effect you for the rest of your life.

    I know this answer isn’t tea or coffee, I don’t like coffee and I gave tea up because it was staining my teeth.

    I was on herbal teas for a while but I then had the idea of drinking a weak beef stock (1 stock cube to 1.2 litres of water) and I love it so much I can’t go back!

    I thought I’d miss that caffeine but it was very easy to give up and I really don’t miss it at all!

  • Of course not and that’s not what they’re saying. They’re saying that trying to outrun a bad diet is never going to happen.

    You could run a marathon every day and then still gain weight because you ate three birthday cakes, five burgers a bucket of fries and a whole pizza for breakfast , lunch and dinner.

    Enablers hate admitting it, but weight is lost in the kitchen.

    If you want to lose weight, eat less, if you want you can also get fit. That’s the difference between being a healthy weight and being fit and healthy.

  • You don’t have to exercise to lose weight, you don’t even have to drastically change your diet.

    Eat. Less.

    You can lose weight on a diet of pizza, donuts and laying on the couch if you simply eat less calories than you burn.

    You quite frankly sound like one of the many enablers that wants to make every excuse possible about why it’s impossible to lose weight rather than taking responsibility for the countless poor eating decisions that lead to obesity. No one is born fat and no one wakes up fat, take responsibility.
