I believe it’s an all-electric quadricycle, not a typical car. This is meant for people that live in urban environments with short daily commutes. I could see something like this being great for people who may not be physically able to ride a bicycle or navigate some less-accessible metro networks. It’s also significantly cheaper than most electric vehicles.

Correct, tho I think it’s mainly targeted to people who already have a car but personally I would see small electric vehicles as a more ethical alternative to cars and a more comfortable alternative to bikes for daily commuting.

By more comfortable I just mean the option to transport more people and/or heavier luggage. Bikes are cool as hell but unfortunately have their limitations

Yeah, Fiats are always in a weird spot, I don’t really understand what their market is but it’s cool. But I will never disrespect a cheap fully electric vehicle made for daily commuting. Pricewise, it would be really great in American towns and cities. I drive a Prius and gas is starting to get expensive even for me, and biking is not a viable option for where I live.

The funny thing is the target aren’t even Italian drivers: most cities are not suitable for electric vehicles with a severe lack of electric charger stands, and a lot of the market is dominated by big family cars. If you need a small car, you’d just buy a used Smart that is way cheaper than a new Topolino and in general the budget for a new car is not enough for a full electric. Lots of opinions from Italian drivers have already been against the model, especially since it’s “just” a restyling of the Ami. So yeah I love the car, but the time and place are totally wrong: I imagine electric microcars being a thing in Italy once batteries become cheaper
