The Lemmy Documentation step 15. “Configuration” is confusing to me, as I am following the “Lemmy from Scratch” install and I am uncertain about this step that “Configuration” says to run:

    cd server
    ./db-init.sh

Was this automatically done already by the Migrate DB part of lemmy_server?

I “closed” registration on my Lemmy instance in the admin settings

However, the lemmy-ui still shows the “Sign Up” link on the home page in the upper-right. Users can go to that /signup page and are presented with the prompts to pick username and password… but then it just fails to respond when they hit “Sign Up” button on that HTML form.

To test and get familiar with the site, I changed Registration Mode to application. I do not have email enabled on my server, so I have the email admin settings all set to off.

So far, I don’t understand where the applications are viewed and responded to by the admins. Is this in the documentation? found it: /registration_applications

Next issue: I created a login with application. Then I tried to login with that user right after creating (without being acted upon by admin) and it just hangs the lemmy-ui webapp client on the login without any error message. – EDIT: attention has been drawn to this on Beehaw: https://beehaw.org/post/470024

Admin note: I think it would be nice that /registration_applications for admin show the IP address and the web browser string of the system doing the application.

Contradictions in the documentation about default of Federation being enabled.

Step 14 says “Federation is disabled by default, and needs to be enabled either through the online admin panel or directly through the config.json file.”

Step 17 says "Federation is enabled by default. You can add allowed and blocked instances, by adding a comma-delimited list in your instance admin panel. "

My experience with following the “Lemmy from Scratch” install instructions is that it was enabled by default. At least i was able to search for a Community off lemmy.ml (this one you are reading) and able to read it.

On /admin page I see the option to “Leave Admin Team”, but how do you add a second user to admin team?
