Ellie didn’t know Mel was pregnant. Abby knew.
It’s been a bit, but I thought there was a scene right after Ellie kills Mel where she does realize that Mel is pregnant.
Ellie doesn’t say anything, but Mel’s jacket slips to the side and reveals her pregnant belly and Ellie reacts to that.
It’s been a while so I could be forgetting.
I believe she started hyperventilating just from the realization, if memory serves me correctly.
