If Americans want to mold themselves in Jesus’ image of Christian perfection, the rich men in the world have to give to the poor, aka eat the rich.
Matthew Chapter 19, verses 21 to 24
Jesus told him, “If you want to be perfect, go, sell your possessions and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow Me."
When the young man heard this, he went away in sorrow, because he had great wealth.
Then Jesus said to His disciples, “Truly I tell you, it is hard for a rich man to enter the kingdom of heaven.
Again I tell you, it is easier for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God.”
The American Right-Wing Christians don’t seem to care for Jesus - they appear to pretty much ignore everything in the New Testament because it’s “lefty and woke”. They do seem to like the Old Testament bits where you kill/enslave/rape/rob people who are weaker or slightly different from you.
Oh, they like Jesus well enough to be huge fans of his “get out of jail free” card that comes with believing in him. That way, the most evil people in the world believe that they can get away with it in the afterlife, using this “one simple trick“.
Lol. But the overall point is, regardless of whatever you believe in, the common theme of moral teachings is to be good to others, not how many hours you should work or how many times one should be beaten for a transgression. Anything else gained from religious text or tradition is a speculative interpretation brought from the ancient to the modern context, and should be taken and understood as such.
be careful with this one because the types of people this applies to will just twist its meaning into “people need to own less/nothing. Minimum wage is too high. The Bible says having enough money to survive is bad”
They twisted “pull yourself up by the bootstraps” which was an example of expecting the poor to do the impossible into blaming the poor. They will twist literally everything, so there is no reason to be careful.
I heard this preached at church a few weeks ago, the gist of it was, that Jesus knew how important being rich was to the man and until he let go of that, he could never let Love fully into his life
Their half assed religion is yet another extension of their privilege and arrogance, and yet another reason why I would happily donate to whoever razes their way of life to the ground.

So that’s why they love Israel so much! /joking
Love the followup to that verse.
Jesus, internally: Oh, shit, good point, uhh…
Dude was just talking out his ass the whole time.

@Rentlar You’re not wrong, but the reality is the Christians in America (especially the ultra rich) are strictly there for performative purposes.
