    This would be perfect if I could fit 24th NVMe devices in this, but not looking to pay more then ~300-350 CAD in a device with no hdd/ssd

        Im starting to transition from hdd to all nvme though. 24 used 2tb enterprise drives would make a 32tb ceph pool with 4+2 erasure coding for about $2500. You could probably get away with like 22+2 erasure coding for a single home server and get 44tb usable storage.

        That’s definitely in bulk storage terroritory, like hundreds of torrents or archive mirroring. I think it’d be worth doing for something greenfield, but it’s not worth tossing an existing hard drive array just for nvme.
