The are just on something different.
Lemmy/femmy etc… Is similar as it it really difficult to understand what you are doing. Just make a simple european social with user friendly interface ffs.
They don’t want anything new. Everything has to be presented, as easy as possible and this is how all big Tech works: You get everything very simple and they get all your data (New = Bad).
Good, more money to be made with tutorials explaining it.
They don’t know anything but think they know everything. They don’t understand and they don’t want to. But hating on something that seems different.
Just idiots in that thread.
Lemmygrad is not the biggest instance, and no it’s not complicated.Just a bunch of people who are afraid of trying something new and want to circlejerk about why they’re smarter staying
The issue is that if the circle jerking comments are the most upvoted, potential new joiners will consider them as true and not join Lemmy Mbin Piefed, while we could definitely use more activity
That’s the trouble with bringing federated service to normal people, except for maybe email they all equate 1 app/website to 1 owner/company. With Lemmy.ml being the default (they’re the people who maintain Lemmy, after all) and being quite ban-happy and perhaps even propagandistic, I bet a large amount of would-be Lemmy users get turned off pretty quickly. Probably also doesn’t help that some people will tell people “it doesn’t matter, just pick any random server” when it comes to getting people over their reservations regarding federated services. They might up thinking that criticising China is banned all across the Lemmyverse.
With Lemmy.ml being the default
- LW is much larger, Lemmy.ml is only the 5th most active instance: https://lemmy.fediverse.observer/list
- Voyager and Photon now default to lemm.ee
jerboa defaults to .ml
Indeed, but Jerboa is probably not the most recommended client, those are Voyager, Sync, Boost, Thunder, Summit.
Never seen summit before, seems interesting.
Too bad it’s not Open-source.Absolutely incorrect, it IS Open-source since last month.I really like Thunder, it’s probably my favourite but sadly its a bit too buggy for my liking.
Of those I’d recommend Voyager. Currently using it as we speak. It’s not the most customizable, but works great.
Summit became open source very recently https://lemmy.world/post/27182708
Open-source.
It is, where did you find it’s not? https://github.com/idunnololz/summit
Lots of updates recently on [email protected]
Ooooh interesting.
Apparently according to another user it just became open source.
I assumed it wasn’t because there was no mention of it on their website+it being on Google Play (not really a condemnation but most Open source software is GitHub first).
Thanks for that! I’ll check it out.
That makes sense, thank you!
@[email protected] , I know you’re off Lemmy at the moment, but FYI
Not sure when you tried Thunder last, but it’s been very stable for me for quite a while on both Android and iOS.
because it’s developed by Lemmy devs (i.e. people behind the .ml)
the people there are more stereotypical reddit than reddit, and lastly I get the feeling that people that are banned from reddit flock there for ‘freedom of speech’ - translated, they can make misogynistic comments or antisemitic comments without moderation.
yeahhhhh
