I mean, the secretary of state has that power, it’s just that in previous administrations they never used it widely. It’s another one of those norms that are being broken while still being legal.

Just saw The Encampments last night in theaters. Mahmoud Khalil features prominently. Highly recommend everyone go watch and support.
But deported to Egypt or “deported”? Because if the former then given the shit is going on in US right now, he might be doing him a favor.
That’s the thing with calling the imprisonment in a foreign country “deportation”. It really muddies the water and makes it very easy for people to have an image of people being sent home, when in fact they send them to life in prison, so bad even the US doesn’t allow it yet. I hope they mean the former but fear the latter is more likely.
