I’m looking for an application for managing of time-sensitive reminders. For less time critical things, I’m perfectly fine with having e-mail reminders. But for those “do <X> at 18:00” kinds of reminders, I was always using the default iOS Reminders application.

Now I’m trying to reduce my dependency on Apple ecosystem, so I’m looking for something that:

  1. is multiplatform (iOS + Android, no desktop application needed)
  2. allows sharing of lists with other people (for example, grocery lists that I’m sharing with wife that we can both contribute to)

Nice bonus would be if it wasn’t behind a subscription, but rather a one-time payment. Is there something like that which is also European?

That could be a solution, but the thing is, I’m trying to slowly migrate all of the tools I’m using to something that’s independent on the platform. To be able to freely switch between iOS and Android whenever I want. (Preferrably to a degoogled Android). I’m also the person in our household who brings the new alternative, test it, make sure it will work crossplatform with other family members and so on…

As of now I’m still not ready to “jump the ship”, but I want to gather portfolio of tools to be able to do so at any time without significant discomfort (especially cnsidering other family members which are less open to experimentation)

There is no problem using the default reminders app as it is caldav compatible. So as long as you do not use iCloud I do not see a problem there.

I’m not sure if I understand, but how would you access those reminder lists on Android devices? Is that possible somehow?

As I currently have no android device I can not recommend any apps, but I’m sure there are some caldav (it’s a standard) compatible apps which allow consuming the caldav todo list.
