Is there a way to disable DMs? I keep being spammed by users from an instance called sh.itjust.works promoting some weird out-of-platform personal profiles.

They usually send this stuff and then immediately seem to get banned, but I still see their stuff since images are displayed by default. Seems like a big oversight to allow this.

Is there a way to block receiving DMs? Or at least have some sort of Accept/Decline dm feature like on Reddit?

Yeah, that’s what I’m concerned about. Getting random CSAM, or Gore, or some f’ed up stuff like that. Images should at the bare minimum come censored before clicking.

I didn’t even have the option to click any placeholders, it just automatically loads the whole thing (but maybe its just the front-end I’m using).

      I hear ya.

But like I say the Fediverse is a bit different to reddit and means someone from a freshly made/hosted instance can straight up send you “bad things” in a comment thread nevermind a DM unless the Instance admins have de-federated from a spam(my)/unmoderated instance.

I’ve been putting off the invite to help the admins of my Instance since I’m a complete idiot at the best of times, but I do think we need more people flagging / tagging / sharing / mass banning them.

Good luck and have fun with the risky clicks ;)

Well, would you say Boost blocks images by default? Because Thunder (the front end I’m using) doesn’t.

I think it’s actually my instance not loading “SD” images (sometimes not initially, sometimes, straight away?) and it’s not until I click the “HD” button does it actually load images like the above?

My instance thou is mainly run by a couple of guy who are a little busy IRL and it might be playing a part in what happened above since Nicole generally gets through most of the time.

          Bad, Nicole 🫢
