    I hope we can do a little more at some point, but at least it’s something. I hope it doesn’t get treated as “enough”.

      These kind of official apologies are more important than people think. This creates an official record admission of fault, which can provide a legal standing for lawsuits. It still has to go through court, but the apology essentially makes the government liable for damages.

        It’s also important for governments to have humility and leave doors open for reconciliation.

        Peace is achieved through heads of states apologizing.

      Totally. But an executive level MENTION is already progress. An APOLOGY is an important tonal precedent for future proper reparations or what have you.

      And allow government provided collateral to back loans for people on reservation. A lot of people don’t realize that because reservation land can’t be sold native americans have no ability to mortgage their homes or access other emergency debt.

        I’m down for interest free loans and mortgages for native Americans residing on the reservation with optional extended payback durations and hardship delays.

        We can cut some of that ridiculous military budget to make room.
