The original, for anyone who wants the wholesome:
The original is still loss.
You’re right, the clown and his nose is the final panel.
Unless the old banker is hoping to diddle the heroine after the show.
my personal favorite:
although, the scenery one is pretty good, too

People will dismiss any mention of Loss anymore, but think of how amazing it is that a comic from like 100 years ago is still finding relevance as it gets remixed and reappropriated into a meta “joke” that started as a gut punch one-off from a webcomic from 20 years ago, and it only gets more and more absurd. This might be art.
It wasn’t a one off that story arc went on for a while
FWIW the (not Loss) comic is from the age of Michael Jackson, not the roaring 20s.
Motherfuck
Mothermother fuck. Mothermother fuckfuck.
Sorry, I’m a dumb dumb. Can someone explain?
It’s loss
?
I was also at a loss for words after that
It was illegal, it violated multiple federal
:.|:;
It’s from an old
Penny Arcade,Ctrl+Alt+Del, often mocked for its sudden melodramatic tone in an otherwise silly comic series:Imagine going through that in real life, eventually sitting down to make a heartfelt comic about it, and then the entire internet takes the piss.
If anything that just makes it even funnier.
The initial reaction was good, but through later interaction with the artist it became clear that it was a one off thing, unrelated to the canon of the series, and unrelated to anything happening in his life. His overall hostility to questions about it turned people to the idea that he did it to steal undeserved pathos from his audience. Thus, he became a clown.
Wrong webcomic. Ctrl + Alt + Del is the name.
Well shit, my bad. Fixed, thanks!
All good! You were in the ballpark, certainly. I read CAD, but not Penny Arcade, and I was there when Loss was uploaded, so the distinction is clear to me.
The comic was Ctrl+Alt+Delete, not Penny Arcade
I always thought the point of the loss meme was a sort of “sad rickroll”. That people thought the comic was so sad, and the joke was to remind people of it and make them sad.
Needless to say, I didn’t get it. I thought “people find this really sad I guess”. It was just last week I found out that people do not in fact think it is sad, and the point is just to mock the cartoon
It achieved infamy for tonal whiplash. The series it’s from is usually irreverent and goofy. so the very heavy subject coming out of nowhere was…not received well.
The tonal whiplash doesn’t end there. I think a lot of it started as g*mers just being immature but then Buckley said his girlfriend needed to “get over it” and tried to groom a minor, so he kinda just burned all bridges on the topic.
Yeah I think overall that Loss being a meme has less to do with the text of the comic itself and more the backlash and the backlash to the backlash. Few people engaging with the Loss meme are actually talking about miscarriages; I did see an example recently called “Loss but it’s a red state” which was actually a brilliant bit of political satire. And it’s almost a different meme to the one that produced
:.|:;which is closer to “you just lost the game.”
Yeah, no. It was (/is? damn, dude’s still going. Good for him.) a comedy/commentary comic mostly about gaming and basically interactions that wouldn’t be out of place in a Clarks movie. This was a standalone just a week or so before Loss.
Que super serious miscarriage storyline for “art” reasons.
The guy who made it was a talentless egomaniac. He wanted to prove that he was a serious adult who could make serious adult stories, and instead of slowly transitioning into a more serious plot like say El Goonish Shiv or Concession or (not a webcomic, but No Evil)
He just jumped into a miscarriage story and then when people didn’t like it… well the other “Super Adult Story” thing to do is kill off characters, so he killed everyone off and just focused on background characters…
but again instead of slowly building up the background characters and bring them closer to the forefront… they were just… thrust into the front with no fanfare, no defined personality…
So the already low-tier webcomic sank even lower.
I believe his girlfriend had a miscarriage and that inspired that comic. But it came out of nowhere and didn’t fit the comic. If I remember correctly the next strip the guys talked about how tough it is (gf not present) and then if was back to gaming
I mean, the dude also showed his junk to an underage girl. Smart decisions aren’t his thing.
I was like “oh, that’s a cute comic” and then I just started fucking wheezing

Double new lines, it eats single ones.
Angry? I fucking lost it
I don’t get it. Can someone explain it to me?
It’s Loss within a Loss meme. Lossception.
I guess I need to familiarize myself with the loss meme. I have been seeing it around lately.
It’s everywhere. Anytime I see a 4 panel comic, I start looking for signs. It’s normally 1 person panel, 2 people, 2 people, 1 stand and 1 lying down. Someone posted how to type it in text the other day.
:.|:;It’s colon, period, straight line, colon, semicolon >then highlight and strike-through.
For all the people asking for an explanation:
