As both Lemmy and Mastodon are both part of the Fediverse, isn’t there a way to use your Lemmy account to reply to a Mastodon post? And if so, what would the format of the URL need to look like for making that possible?
I’m thinking of something like the format you need to use to make it possible to participate in another Lemmy instance with your local account, like
https://lemmy.ml/c/[email protected]
would make it possible for you guys to post there after clicking the link, while
would not.
Is there an equivalent for Mastodon?
*Edit: I think my example was a little bit misleading. I know that there’s nothing like Lemmy’s communities or kbin’s magazines on Mastodon.
This is what a normal Mastodon URL would look like:
https://mastodon.social/@kplx/110552314645046444
And I’m thinking of something like
https://feddit.de/@kplx/[email protected]
Does something like this exist?
mastodon doesn’t have communities/magazines like instances on the threadiverse do. instead, they categorize things by individual users, and allow people to search via hashtags. here on kbin, mastodon posts are pulled into our magazines and we have a dedicated “microblog” section for them.
Mastodon users replying to threads will show up like other comments/posts do.
Basically: you follow mastodon users not mastodon communities (which don’t exist)
Edit: I should also mention that you can pull up a user’s profile the same way you do for a community (just with the user profile url format instead)
