      Oh, they want to play the “open waters” card?

      Either international laws apply or the guy was within his rights to just steal everything in his room.

    WTF they can’t forceably detain you for payment any more than the door greeter at walmart. Tell them to get fucked and send a bill.

    Considering that a US hospital will charge you a few grand for even looking in their direction these days, $2,500.22 for something serious, like seizures, sounds like a steal :(

        Well, obviously, he should have refused evacuation.

        The specifics in this situation matter, but it sounds like the cruise ship provided a reasonable bill.

    The Stockholm syndrome of Americans talking about how they didn’t bilk him for as much as they could and would have on land every time this story comes up is really fucking sad 😮‍💨
