“This city should not exist. It is a monument to man’s arrogance.” - Peggy Hill
Good thing our tax dollars are being used to build multi billion dollar chip factories there… /s
Is that true? I’m glad we’re investing in domestic chip production, but why in Phoenix?!?!

Almost always follow the money. Often the mayors offer insane tax breaks or land finances or something to attract the companies. Ostensibly to bring in more jobs and boost their own economy. Most do not consider the environmental portion, definitely companies don’t.
nearly every ancient desert town is either
A) built on a hillside
or
B) builds down to keep cool
The city should have way more natural shade and probably a lot more vertical barriers /aesthetic fencing
Well, if enough people die, that would sure solve the water problem.
Seems like a great opportunity for grid-issolated solar cooling.
In Arizona and New Mexico if someone loses consciousness and hits the pavement awhile they get life threatening burns. It’s crazy.
I met an old drunk outside of Phoenix many years ago who passed out on top of a fire ant colony for a few hours and woke up covered head to toe in attacking angry ants. It’s an inhospitable place!
Know a guy that lost his grandmother this way in Florida I believe.
Fell, couldn’t get up in their own driveway
Build tiny row housing. Like 8’x10’ a piece with a door, all side by side. Line the top with solar panels and plumb an AC unit to like 10 a piece. Give the homeless a place to stay at and try to get back on their feet instead of tents on a street. Every like 500 feet can have a bathroom/shower house. On a large scale it could probably amount to just like $5,000 per unit.

Air conditioning should be a requirement of habitability anywhere where it regularly gets over 100 degrees fahrenheit.
