A top Hamas political official told The Associated Press the Islamic militant group is willing to agree to a truce of five years or more with Israel and that it would lay down its weapons and convert into a political party if an independent Palestinian state is established along pre-1967 borders.

Do you call Ukraine the bad guys too for defending themselves?

Every country has soldiers killing innocents.

    Every country does war crimes.

    Everyone is the bad guys.

If Ukraine kicked down Russian doors and gunned down families or purposely targeted unarmed civilians, sure, they would be the bad guys in that situation.

Anyone who commits war crimes should be called out, and the perpetrators held accountable.

Okay but we do know that Ukrainian soldiers have committed war crimes. For example

Amnesty International - Ukrainian fighting tactics endanger civilians

        • Ukrainian forces have put civilians in harm’s way by establishing bases and operating weapons systems in populated residential areas, including in schools and hospitals, as they repelled the Russian invasion that began in February, Amnesty International said today.

And they used forbidden cluster munitions

Human Rights Watch - New Research Details Ukrainian Use of Widely Banned Weapon

Ukrainian forces have used cluster munitions that caused numerous deaths and serious injuries to civilians, Human Rights Watch said today. Russian forces have extensively used cluster munitions in Ukraine, killing many civilians and causing other serious civilian harm.

And much more! But I am not out here saying “Ukraine are the bad guys” because of a few war crimes.

Because they are being invaded and occupied and they have the right to fight back.

And I’d love for them to do it cleaner and more peaceful but hey, if the invader isn’t interested in peace I’m not asking the victim for perfection.

Staging equipment in populated areas is hardly the same as gunning down civilians. If you put an unarmed, defenseless person in your sights and pull the trigger, you’re a fucking monster. That’s not defensive, that’s murder.

I agree they’re not as bad, however the cluster bombs are bad. And Ukraine is also known for having a few Neo Nazi battalions that weren’t exactly too kind to Russian sympathizers. Which is the excuse Russia used to invade Ukraine. “Gotta deterrorize it”. Wonder where I heard that…

            https://www.amnesty.org/en/latest/news/2014/09/ukraine-must-stop-ongoing-abuses-and-war-crimes-pro-ukrainian-volunteer-forces/

The call came as Amnesty International published fresh research collected on the ground in the northern Luhansk region, Abuses and war crimes by the Aidar Volunteer Battalion in the north Luhansk region, documenting a growing range of abuses by the Aidar Volunteer battalion.

Aidar is one of more than thirty so-called volunteer battalions to have emerged in the wake of the conflict which have been loosely integrated into Ukrainian security structures as they seek to retake separatist held areas.

Amnesty International has documented a growing spate of abuses, including abductions, unlawful detention, ill-treatment, robbery, extortion, and possible executions committed by the Aidar battalion. Some of these amount to war crimes.

But anyways. Hamas is offering peace. Israel just needs to take it.
