The only time I was in Boston, my girlfriend and I ran for the subway before the door closed. A guy held the door, I thanked him, and he turned to his friend and said “See, not everyone is a dick, asshole.” Or was it “not everyone is an asshole, dick.” But it was pretty on brand.

A couple years ago a guy was dragged to his death when he got his arm stuck in the doors on the T (Boston’s subway).

It’s one of the most mechanically dangerous transportation systems in the world because most of it is so out of date.

I got a lift from a tourist from Boston when I was hitchhiking from Falkland to Auchtermuchty in Scotland

He had an A4 sheet of paper that his wife had taped to the front of the glove box that said “LEFT YA FUCKIN BOZO” to make sure he stayed on the right wrong side of the road

My wife learnt to drive here in the UK, she has a song she sings when she’s anywhere with opposite sides for traffic. Goes something like: Right hand side of the road, right hand side of the road, dear god right hand side of the road…shit fuck, right hand side of the road!

I had a wonderful experience during my brief stay in Boston. I wandered out of the hotel to find a gentleman in what could only be described as Reinfair garb, asked him where I could find a good bar. “You wanna go tah a fhuckin’ bhar? C’mon, get in my car - I’ll take you to a fhuckin’ bhar.”

I proceeded to get into a car with a complete stranger, went to a hole in the wall pub and chatted for a bit while some terrible live music played. Everybody was really friendly and I have nothing but positive things to say about the place.

I went stopped in Boston twice on vacation for a few days each trip. Aside from the white power shit that happens there I really liked it. It was filled with quaint little shops, the people were cool, the views were awesome, I got to huck a box into the Boston harbor. I would 💯 go back. Shit was a vibe.

On the flip side, I went down to Salem to do tours and stuff and I fucking hated it. The only cool spot was a pet supply place where they sold homemade treats and dog food along with toys and stuff. I was high as fuck petting their shop cat for line 20 minutes. Definite 10/10. If you’re nearby get fucking blasted and go pet this lady’s cat. She was super cool about me not wanting to come in and look around. Just wanted to pet the cat.

It was the New England Dog Biscuit Company. This was the cat. Go pet the fucking cat.

Yes, it sucks. However, there are many, many places for all kinds of music events.

Hell, even my fav brewery in Roxbury does Jazz night every Thursday with performers from Berklee College of Music and N.E. Conservatory. It’s great!
