I’ve gotten 2 skin burns from chemicals with a nitrile glove breakthrough time of <1 second
underfunded undergrad lab classes without heavy duty gloves shouldn’t be allowed to use fuming nitric acid >:(

I tried scrambling an egg using the vortexer (it didn’t work)
I rarely arrived at the lab before 10am as an undergrad intern. (And usually stayed until 7–8pm because I goofed around too much and it took forever to get all the cells taken care of 🫠)
Flexible schedules are a luxury I miss dearly
we used Macs at my last lab
I hated them because I’m a Linux nerd but at least they were reliable
(I suppose if my research PC ran Linux I’d spend all my time configuring it instead of researching…!)
POCKTOPUS
INDOOR PLUMBING
I live in an apartment complex. The thought of having to share an outhouse (more than 1 if lucky) with hundreds of strangers TERRIFIES ME. And/or use chamberpots. FUCK NO
A BLESSED ETERNAL AFTERLIFE OF BLISS FOR ALL HUMANS WHO CONTRIBUTED TO INDOOR PLUMBING SCIENCE 😩
crispy eggplant semolina torta from Tortaria NYC

I’m actually surprised one didn’t exist yet
Could be one batch or many. A “batch” means different things in different food industry contexts and has more to do with ingredient tracking than production timespan
They probably do. Though, food industry metal detectors have to regularly be calibrated with check wands: plastic bars with very small embedded metal fragments designed to mimic possible contaminants like brush wire, oven conveyor pieces, etc.
When I was QA at a food plant that used them, there were numerous problems with the metal detectors.
To this day I still have a lot of anxiety eating factory food because of the nightmares I witnessed at that place…
Yes, but ideally there should be regulation to prevent pimping, predation, trafficking, and STI spread. At the very least, decriminalization protects sex workers from fear of prosecution preventing them from seeking healthcare, legal help, etc.
Trafficking is heinous, but it also gets irreverantly thrown around as a whataboutism by people who are against it for personal instead of rational reasons.
The root of the problems with sex work, as always, is tying means of survival to productivity, which I am against both personally and rationally :P

Asahi makes the best one I’ve ever tried
delicious, delicious beer-flavored soda water
also the spirits of mines that are sometimes benevolent and sometimes malevolent
cobalt is named after them because it was a toxic ore seen as a contaminant that caused injury and death to miners
I currently hate my body and don’t feel comfortable dating until I like it again, as dating involves finding others who like your body (and other things about you, but still)
I’m sure there are people who would want to date me in my current body as well as my future (hopefully improved) body, but I just can’t summon any confidence while I feel like this.
Obviously there’s some mental health problems I need to work on too. I’m fortunate to have decent psychiatric care at this stage in my life and am slowly progressing in that area, and trying my damnedest to ramp up body improvement efforts.
I went to the gym today, at least. :)
I actually use a decade old version of this to control a very expensive machine at work which is simultaneously surreal and validating of all the time I wasted spent learning linux from my teens onward
Being John Malkovich
the story is just so out there and it’s excellently acted and directed. chef’s kiss
