Local officials told public broadcaster NHK that the coast guard is unable to rescue the whales because the surrounding ice is too thick

Oh sure, but for a billionaire humanity will comb the oceans to rescue the goo that’s left of them from trying to show off.

This is the best summary I could come up with:

A pod of at least 10 orcas are trapped by sea ice off the coast of northern Japan, drone footage from Tuesday morning shows.

The video, released by local wildlife organization Wildlife Pro, showed the killer whales struggling with their heads above the frozen waters off Hokkaido, Japan.

Local officials told public broadcaster NHK that the coast guard is unable to rescue the whales because the surrounding ice is too thick, BBC News reported.

According to local media, nine orcas died in 2005 after getting stuck in drift ice in the same area, BBC reported.

The original article contains 93 words, the summary contains 93 words. Saved 0%. I’m a bot and I’m open source!

Between the Coast Guard and the Self Defense Force, there should be at least one ice breaker that they can plow a channel past where the pod is and lead them back into open water.

Biden, tell Alaska to stop stealing land from the Inuit for five minutes and help out.

Tell Kim the Orcas are pro-South Korea and he’ll barrage the ice with failed ICBMs. That should be enough for them to break free. :P

On globe it’s not as far as it seems. It’s 5900km from the north of Norway to the north of Japan.

In US terms that’s almost the exact distance from Anchorage to Jacksonville, and without a continent in the way.

If they leave now, they can free those orcas in like 2 months. Especially if they have to avoid the Panama (drought) and Suez (Houthis) canals.
