yes lets put the man that single handedly collapsed the EV market and obliterated Twitter in charge of “streamlining” the government, that is a great idea!

Then he is going to scream that if public servants are not at their offices 95 hours a week they are not committed to the cause then when he finds out they have a union he will be triggered and forced to go into a quiet room so he can cry about how the big mean workers want him to fail.

Ask the air traffic controllers who went on strike in the 80s how that helped.

Having Elon anywhere near government anything is a terrible idea and he’s an awful human but what’s this about the EV market? I thought it was doing fine. Twitter though yeah that has been just…a large wtf per minute value for sure.

Yeah, the EV market is fine, just Tesla sales which have dropped some, lowering numbers for the total EV market. Sales continue to be strong for other EV manufacturers, just one brand slowing down for some strange reason… Almost like someone has started to alienate their core customer base…

Yeah, I’m actively shopping for an EV and Tesla is not on the list. Not just because of Elmo though. I need physical buttons for the AC and radio and I like my cars to be pretty. But Elmo is definitely another reason why I’m not even looking at a Tesla.

yeah if you look at the stats of the market, its been all over sites like Bloomberg and Forbes, the EV market is imploded because “Americans don’t want EVs” but when you break it down by manufacturer the market is overall growing if you excluded tesla, but Tesla is the largest maker in the segment so as they dive the market as a aggregate takes a hit.

Trump made the remarks Thursday during a campaign stop at the New York Economic Club. “At the suggestion of Elon Musk, who has given me his complete and total endorsement…I will create a government efficiency commission tasked with conducting a complete financial and performance audit of the entire federal government,” Trump said. “Elon has agreed to head the task force,” Trump added while noting that the task force would be responsible for “making recommendations for drastic reforms” to the government.

Not sure I love the sound of “drastic reforms to the government”. But if we’re stupid enough to give gim the keys to 1600 Pennsylvania again, it’s what we deserve.

As Gerrymandered as most red states are now and all the voter suppression tactics, I don’t know “stupid enough” would be the cause. The popular vote WILL go to Kamala. It’s whether the gaming of the electoral system can be overcome.

Honestly, the fact that it’s even close enough for that to matter is a damning indictment of our society. How January 6 wasn’t the end of Trump’s political career and the start of a prison term, I’ll never know.

Those of us ignorant enough to vote for Trump also vote for the Greg Abbott’s and Ron DeSantis’ of the country. It’s not a popular position these days but we, the little people, includes the poo-brained asshats voting for Trump and the fascist takeover of the American South. But they’re too stupid (or more accurately, willfully ignorant) to understand the scope of what voting for maga and maga-adjacent Republicans really means.

I guess through a kinder lens our maga neighbors don’t have the perspective required to understand the truth of the world they live in. Some might be wholly incapable, but most just don’t care enough to try. But the societal bubble the average maga voter lives it makes the ethos look pretty appealing. The rhetorical techniques used by maga media and personalities are like psyops level effective.

It would be irresponsible and incorrect to lay it all at the feet of voters or politicians of any political party. Every American is responsible for what’s going on in the country right now.

Step 1) Rename the country to something more hip. Possibly USX.

Step 2) Have everyone sign a pledge to work twice as hard.

Step 3) Cut everything that has a budget.

    Step 4) Profit?

Governments should not be measured in “value” of any financial aspect, but rather the quality of living of the citizens they govern. Electing a leader of questionable human rights morals would be a disaster.

On the one hand, government jobs are known to be very cushy compared to industry where the harsh realities of late-stage capitalism are in full swing.

On the other hand, Elon is in no position to fix the government inefficiency problem. He would call for some ridiculously stupid and uninformed decisions to be made based upon his business ethos of nuking (potentially important) things and starting from scratch.

His idea of efficiency is having his employees work 60-80 hours a week and firing people that don’t. That does not work with government jobs which are often unionized.

Exactly. Also, that sort of efficiency is a myth because people can’t sustain that workload for more than the time required to upskill and get out of that company. You lose good people with knowledge of your operation doing what Elon does.

That’s why his “solution” is going to be to replace them by contracting private companies. These will of course happen to exclusively be companies owned by Musk and or Trump.

Good point. Their idea of efficiency is hiring their buddies as consultants and then contracting out the work to companies they own or will help them and all at a huge markup. Public private partnerships are rife with graft.
